The Purple Campaign
Kingbath lake is a large lake located in the middle of the northern plains of the Crimson Kingdom. Its northern and eastern shored border the Royal Headlands, while its southern and western shores border Goldenrod Glen and Hearthflour Heath. It is thought to have been formed long ago when a great glacier melted to fill a valley with water, but nobody really knows for sure as there are few surviving Elven records, most of which only vaguely reference a lake in the region. An old legend surrounding the lake says that it was the site of an event involving a local king’s half-elven son who was kidnapped by a rival king as a child and only reunited with his father after the boy had grown into an unrecognizable man. It is said that the king challenged his supposed son to a contest of strength, was bested, and ended up falling into the lake, where upon standing up he saw his son’s reflection in the waters and recognized him for who he was. It is thus that the lake where that old king of yore “bathed” is now called Kingbath Lake.
