The Purple Campaign
The town of Algate-on-the-Lake (from Dwarvo-common Åldgata, “Old Gate”), is a fortified town build around the stone motte-and-bailey castle known as Arret Stronghold and surrounded by a stone wall. The town itself is relatively small, with a permanent population of only 200 or so, but in the castle and barracks, a constantly rotating garrison consisting of around half of the thousand man compliment of The Golden Guard is stationed. Most of the locals are involved in fishing and farming to feed themselves and the guardsmen. Those who aren’t mostly work in the smelting and refining mills that process gold ore mined in the hills of Goldenrod Glen. Algate is ruled by the knight baronet Sir Cuthric Wynsted.
